Our client, a well-established, modern and highly regarded manufacturing business, serving leading UK organisations and brands, is seeking an experienced Workshop Manager to join its North West London team.
The Role
The successful candidate will oversee the Joinery and Metal workshops, Assembly teams and Specialist Joinery department, taking responsibility for production planning, workflow, quality, health and safety, MRP system use and team performance.
Key Responsibilities
Team Management and Operations
- Manage daily workshop and assembly operations, ensuring products meet drawing specifications, BOMs and quality standards.
- Own the MRP system, maintaining accurate data, BOMs, routings, lead times and Shopfloor Data Capture compliance.
- Plan and monitor production schedules, capacity, workloads and resources to meet demand.
- Identify constraints, manage priorities and implement improvements that increase efficiency and standards.
- Work closely with Account Teams, Estimating, Design, Scheduling and Procurement to support operational decision-making.
- Ensure planning activity supports quality, safety and cost targets.
Health and Safety
• Ensure compliance with company processes and health and safety policies.
• Promote safe working practices, hold regular safety reviews and maintain training and skills matrices.
Production Oversight
- Manage production schedules, deadlines, equipment use and resource planning.
- Review capacity regularly and adjust resources to meet operational requirements.
Quality Control
- Maintain effective quality control procedures, equipment, workstations and maintenance plans.
Reporting and Communication
- Provide weekly progress reports and track KPIs including productivity and downtime.
About You
- Proven supervisory or management experience within a manufacturing environment.
- Strong technical understanding of joinery and metalwork processes.
- Confident leading teams in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organisation and problem-solving skills.
- Good knowledge of workshop health and safety standards.
- Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office and production or manufacturing software.
